Vincentian Family leaders celebrating the charism of Saint Vincent de Paul

A prophetic voice for justice, peace & our common home

For more than 400 years the Vincentian charism has served Christ in the poor. VIN-JPIC carries that mission into the work of advocacy, human rights and the integrity of creation.

Our Identity

Who we are

The Vincentian Family is a global family founded on our primary charismatic intuition: “there is God-endowed dignity in every human story and in our planet.”

VIN-JPIC is an educative and action-oriented network of the Congregation of the Mission (CM), established to support and promote campaigns that advance human rights, peace, integral ecology and social justice. We are a coalition of Vincentian Family organisations collaborating around our ministry of advocacy — respecting our individual identities and mandates, while strengthening the impact we have together as a family.

We are also ready to publicly denounce the causes of injustice and the violation of human rights, joining our voice with those who cry out for justice and lending a voice to our planet and to the voiceless.

Our Mission

To be a united voice of the Vincentian Family at the United Nations and in our communities — advocating for and empowering our brothers and sisters on the social and economic margins of history and society, the excluded, and our wounded Mother Earth. We strengthen the collective impact of our advocacy while respecting each member's identity and mandate.

Our Vision

A world where the integral development of the human person is safeguarded — a world of sustainable livelihoods, economic justice, social inclusion and environmental protection, especially for the most vulnerable and excluded, so that the dignity of each person is respected and poverty is brought to an end.

There is God-endowed dignity in every human story and in our planet.

Our Focus

Homelessness & the systemic roots of poverty

Following the celebration of 400 years of our charism in 2017, the Vincentian Family embraced homelessness as the central focus of our shared advocacy campaign — supporting the efforts of our entire family around the world.

We continue to adapt to the thematic approaches the Vincentian Family collectively chooses in order to bring an end to poverty, always keeping the most vulnerable at the heart of our work.

  • Social inclusion — restoring belonging to the excluded.
  • Economic justice — sustainable livelihoods over dependency.
  • Care of creation — protecting our common home.
Our Priorities

How we live out the mission

Six commitments guide everything we do — from the grassroots to the global stage.

Share & collaborate

We share efforts and critical information around local and global concerns, in collaboration with organisations who share our values.

Amplify voices

We carry the voices of the most vulnerable to the United Nations, and bring global UN concerns back to our members for mutual, effective solutions.

Educate for advocacy

We create awareness and educate the Vincentian Family for advocacy at the grassroots, national and global levels.

Shape policy

We ensure the Vincentian Family's focus is on policies of social inclusion, economic justice and care of the environment.

Systemic change

We promote a collaborative, systemic-change perspective among Vincentian Family members at all levels.

Ethical foundation

We address issues from an integrative ethical and moral perspective, with human rights, responsibilities and personal dignity at the forefront.
